Choosing The Right Size For Breast Augmentation

Deciding to have a breast augmentation procedure done is a big step in any woman’s life. It is not a decision that should be arrived at lightly and there are a number of things you need to think about even after you have made the decision to go ahead.

One of these concerns the issue of how much bigger you want your breasts to be after the surgery. Some women think that it is simply a matter of choosing which size they want to be, but it is not always this simple. That’s why you need to go about it in the right way to get the right result.

Consult with your surgeon

Choosing the ideal cup size is not something you should do alone. Your surgeon will be able to advise and inform you of the probable choices you have to make. The surgeon will have had plenty of experience of performing this procedure for a number of women, and the size you should select doesn’t just depend on what you want.

Your body shape and the size breasts you have now can both play a part in what size will be ideal for you afterwards. For example, while a C cup may be more than adequate for one woman, another woman might only achieve the noticeable change she desires if she chooses an E cup. It all depends on the individual and what cup size they were to begin with.

Show, don’t tell

This is a very important aspect to remember when you see your surgeon. It is very difficult to describe to someone the exact breast size and shape that you want to achieve. That’s why it can help to spend a few hours before you go for your appointment browsing through magazines and picking out those women whose breasts are similar to what you would like to have.

Consider the consequences

A breast enhancement operation is a permanent type of alteration to your body. While you can have the implants taken out at a later date (and indeed you may need to have them replaced at a later stage in your life) you will want to be sure that when you wake up, you are waking up with the breasts you will be happy with.

Sometimes you don’t need to have a huge difference in cup size to get the results you are happy with. That is why it can work well to get a bra in the size you think you want to be, and fill it with rice bags made from stockings and rice from your kitchen.

Get someone to take photos of you from every angle like this as well, so you can get an idea of what you would look like. It’s also worth wearing some of your favourite outfits over the top of your ‘padded’ bra, so you can see how they would look.

In the end, you should follow the advice of your surgeon when you come to the decision that is right for you. There may be a health reason why you cannot have the size you would like, but with proper consultation you will end up with a breast augmentation you are delighted with.
